Problem: Cricut machine cannot read the cut sensor marks. Usually occurs with glossy printable vinyls.

Error message: "The machine cannot read the cut sensor marks. Make sure you're using material, it is positioned correctly on the mat, and the cut sensor marks are fully printed. To try again, press the flashing Go button on your machine."

Reason: Glossy sticker papers are too shiny for the machine reader to work properly

Solution: Paste matte scotch tape over the cut sensor marks

Problem: Silhouette registration marks not detected, causing registration failed error. Error reads: "Failed to detect Registration Marks. To retry, use [arrows] to position tool above the black square, then click REGISTER"

Cause 1: Machine is confused where the registration mark box is.

Cause 2: You are using glossy paper which are too reflective for Silhouette Print and Cut machines (Curio, Cameo and Portrait) to read. From our experience, Buttercrafts Glossy Printable Vinyls work well with Silhouette Print and Cut machines. So not an issue if you use our glossy printable vinyls.

Problem: Printed artwork is not waterproof

Solution: It is key to recognize that not all inks are waterproof, even though the printable vinyl material is waterproof. So if you notice that your printed artwork runs when exposed to water, the ink is not waterproof and it needs to be protected. We suggest a few methods to protect your artwork in this article. Problem: Black ink does not dry on glossy printable vinyl. This problem is common for inkjet printing.

Cause: Black pigment inks do not bind well with glossy surfaces.

Solution: Select photo paper as paper type and always select color printing even if artwork is black and white. Read more here
